The Ethics Committee of the Parliament has issued a fresh summons to Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, scheduling her appearance for November 2.
The committee is conducting an investigation into allegations that Ms. Moitra allowed businessman Darshan Hiranandani access to her parliamentary login, enabling him to directly post questions for the Lok Sabha.
Initially, Ms. Moitra had been summoned to appear before the committee on October 31. However, she requested a rescheduled appearance, citing concerns that her October 31 summon had been publicly disclosed on live television before the official letter was dispatched to her later that evening. In response to the development, she expressed her intention to cooperate with the committee's inquiry after concluding her pre-scheduled commitments in her constituency on November 4.
